In the Coexistence Program of the Student Welfare Subdirectorate, coexistence is seen as the democratic, collaborative, inclusive, interactive, and agreed way of being together in a shared space, promoting values and principles such as dignity, autonomy, respect, solidarity, pluralism, democracy, and freedom.
Living together inherently involves dealing with conflict. In this environment of interaction and learning it’s necessary to deal with contextualized issues considering the convergence of identities, repertoires, and diverse worldviews.
Also, through actions, initiatives and intentions of the different stakeholders of the University, our program strengthens social harmony and a culture of peace in the university, creating a shared story to live together at UPN.
Our program includes a range of strategies focused on Conflict Resolution, Human Rights, and the Promotion of Interaction and Democratic Dialogue among students, faculty, and workers.
Our actions are currently guided by a key strategy, the “Prevention and Assistance Protocol for Coexistence Conflict Resolution for Students as a Pedagogical Tool.” This protocol aims to facilitate reflective processes and promote agreements rooted in conflict, moving from punitive measures to embracing restorative dimensions. It also promotes the analysis and learning of the various pressures in the university context. It contributes to the cultivation of a university culture based on restorative coexistence and peace taking into account individual and collective dimensions.
Our Program also cooperates with stakeholders, leaders, and forms of university life, promoting scenarios that strengthen university democracy and a university-society relationship through a proactive management of prevention and promotion as key elements to live in harmony.
Our Coexistence Program is here for you. Our University appreciates your support!
